Temba Bavuma made a career-best 179 as South Africa recovered from 97/5 to declare on 425/9 against Australia in Gqeberha. Marco Jansen contributed 85 and Simon Harmer 82, his first Test half-century. Scott Boland took five wickets. Kagiso Rabada then dismissed Nic Maddinson as Australia closed Day 3 on 3/1.
